A VISION
After many years working with some of the footwear industry’s leading brands, Mark Trueman and his wife Jane decided it was time to create something of their own.
Drawing on decades of experience in the outdoor and country footwear market, they set about developing a range of boots with a simple purpose: to combine dependable performance, lasting quality and considered craftsmanship.
In 2010, two years after taking on Brandecosse, the first collection arrived at our converted barn in the hills of Galloway, Scotland.
More than 15 years later, that first collection has grown into a distinctive range of country footwear, designed in the rolling Galloway countryside and handcrafted in Italy.
Much has changed since those first boots arrived. But the principles behind them haven’t — and in many ways, the Brandecosse story is only just beginning.
Made in Italy
Our footwear is rooted in a belief that where something is made matters.
Italy has a long and celebrated tradition of shoemaking, shaped by generations of craftspeople, specialist workshops and an uncompromising approach to quality. It is an ecosystem where knowledge has been passed down over decades, and where many of the skills required to create exceptional footwear still exist within close-knit manufacturing communities.
Producing in Italy and Europe gives us access to this depth of expertise, alongside some of the world’s finest materials and components. From specialist tanneries producing premium leathers to skilled makers, technicians and sole manufacturers, each stage of production draws on generations of experience.
Keeping production close to these centres of craftsmanship also allows for greater attention to detail throughout the process. Materials can be carefully selected, construction refined and every component considered for its quality, performance and longevity.
For us, Made in Italy is more than statements of origin. It represents a commitment to preserving specialist skills and creating footwear with integrity. Boots designed not simply for a season, but to be worn and valued for years.
