About

About The Stambecco – Lightweight Italian walking boots

Introducing the Stambecco, part of the Calzaturificio Diemme country boot range by Brandecosse.

This lightweight Italian walking boot is perfect for lowland trekking and trails. The full leather upper and waterproof lining means the Stambecco is suitable for year-round use.

The Stambecco is 6.5” (16 cm) tall and weighs only 1.25kg/pair. These leather walking boots are a great all-rounder, ideal for varied conditions and terrain. If you are looking for a lightweight yet supportive hiking boot, you can’t go wrong with the Stambecco.

This is thanks to the balance between wearability, rigidity and durability. A 2mm full grain leather upper lined with a fully waterproof and breathable Sympatex® H2Out lining makes for a light, comfortable yet highly durable walking boot. The rubber toe cap reduces wear from tough terrain.

For traction, a Vibram® Winkler soles provide high levels of grip and durability. Semi-blocked lugs towards the toe provide a large surface area for frontal grip, while wider and deeper mud releasing lugs provide traction on moss, grass and muddy terrain. The outsole is comfortable and flexible thanks to a shock absorbing micro midsole. On the inside, there a leather lined memory foam removable insole for lasting comfort and stability.

A padded suede collar and extended lacing system with roller lacing ankle locking eyelet makes for a secure and adaptable fit. Ensuring maximum grip with lacing extending down towards the toe.

Whether you’re bagging a tough Munro or hitting the trail through your local forest, the Stambecco has been designed with versatility in mind. It is an ideal mid-ground between our ultra lightweight Capriolo and our 7” alpine Italian walking boot the Fagiano, making this the ideal hiking boot.

The Stambecco is a perfect year round walking boot.

I saw these on sale and thought I’d give them a try – thoroughly impressed! The boots are very comfortable and fit my feet perfectly. The materials are top notch and the workmanship looks very good. I’m thrilled I took a chance on these! Nice to be able to buy from a local Galloway company too. Will definitely be considering BrandEcosse/Diemme for my next pair of boots (you can never have too many! 😉 )

Nice lightweight hiking shoe, high quality workmanship and quality. After a brief break in period, they now are very comfortable and provide excellent ankle support.

Highly recommend for light hiking or walking.

Thank you for making men’s boots in smaller sizes!! Why practical footwear is gendered I don’t know!!! Mainstream boot shopping is exasperating as the wider ‘mens’ boots start at size 7- which are too long for my feet. I have pointy bones at the bunions and ankles and with a proper ‘wearing in the boots’ schedule the Stambecco boots I just bought, should be a perfect fit that last me for years. The quality is outstanding!!! Classic and timeless. I didn’t think that I’d be able to find this type of walking boot for this kind of money ever again. Much better than the mass- produced and overwhelming choices on offer from the outdoor clothing shops today.
And thank you for the seamless on- line transaction and the offer of size exchange with clear instructions. I thought I’d never buy footwear on line, but I’d recommend buying from Brandecosse to anyone.

Just got these boots. Quality for just over 200 quid. I presume dubbin is the best leather preserver for this leather.

I’ve been visiting shops and searching the internet for a couple of months to find a pair of hiking boots that are NOT made in China or some other far flung domain where there is no history or pride in the product. Unfortunately many of the “old school” boot makers who started their trade in UK have now sold their souls ( or soles ? ) for cheaper costs available around the globe. This, inevitably has resulted in an inferior product. SO how marvellous to find a Scottish family firm in cooperation with master Italian leather workers who skimp nothing in their process to produce a fantastic end product. I have just received my Stambeccos from UPS within 48 hours of placing my order. As hoped for they really are all I expected… and more. Beautiful leather, supreme stitching, wonderful hooks and lugs for an even pressure lacing AND a spare pair of laces. I always expect a bit of discomfort when wearing in new hiking boots but I’ve had these on now for a couple of hours walking around the house, up and down the stairs and can honestly say that they are supremely comfortable from the word go. I ordered my true size, 9 UK and with my medium weight sock on they are perfect and will become even better when the leather naturally stretches with wear. I am now looking forward to my first outing in them… an easy walk around the circumference of Kew Gardens… before graduating to Everest ! Very happy to have at last found EXACTLY what I’ve been searching for…. thank you for restoring my faith in craftsmanship and integrity in business.

On opening the box, the quality speaks for itself. Really high quality leather, great stitching. I have quite wide high volume feet and normally need to size up in boots. These are really roomy but perfect with thick socks and my custom insoles. I’ve been a dedicated customer of Meindl for their wider fit and quality but in recent years, their quality has degraded in my opinion.

The boots are really lightweight for the level of protection they offer. I’ve worn mine on long treks over dartmoor and the southwest coastal path and they offer great security around the ankles. The soles are grippy and don’t hang on to too much mud etc. The lace lugs are great and it’s easy to achieve a good graduated fit where you want a secure hold in some areas and room in others.

The only thing I’d advise you bear in mind is like most proper leather boots, these aren’t hugely comfortable out the box. They take some commitment to break in, particularly the rear of the boots which hug your Achilles’ tendon. The leather around the lace lugs will also take some time to soften and mould. Embrace it as part of the journey, it’ll be worth it in the end. Super boots!
